of this contract. Why we chose
this breeding:
In a nutshell, we wanted to try something new and get some
yellow puppies and possibly bring down the "highness" of
Diva's previous breedings to Prize. Diva's oldest puppies
just turned three and are mainly hunt test dogs, some will be
finishing their MH's this spring. Her most recent litter,
turning two this year, has some puppies running derby, some
preparing for all-age work and several running hunt tests. We
feel strongly that Diva's looks and build complement Drake's and
the pedigree cross is quite safe genetically. Drake's owner
Gary McIlwain explained that Drake was the most trainable of all
of his FC/AFC's and that he has a wonderful temperament, sleeping
in Gary's son's bed when Drake's at home. Diva has a great
temperament, never meets a stranger and has wonderful
trainability. We feel this will be a perfect cross with a
similar dog, creating puppies that are equally fun to train and be
around. Diva's previous litters (two to Prize)
have produced dogs with really fun, outgoing personalities.
They have all been extremely trainable with great attitudes in
training. While they can be slow to mature in some cases,
once they come on, they are very strong teammates in the
field. And you just can't beat how enjoyable they are to
have in the field and at home. We're hoping the cross with
Drake will not only produce yellows, but will also carry on these
great traits from Diva's previous breedings. |
